Massimiliano Allegri earned one more point than Thiago Motta after five Serie A games last season, and fans on social media compared the two coaches after the Bianconeri collected three consecutive 0-0 draws in Serie A.

It’s hard to understand whether Juventus‘ glass is half empty or full after five league games in 2024-25. The Bianconeri haven’t yet conceded in Serie A this term – the only one in the league – but scored just six goals in five matches, getting three consecutive goalless stalemates against Roma, Empoli and Napoli.

Fans compare Motta to Allegri but ex-Juventus coach had better Serie A start last season

They have nine points in five games, one fewer than last year when Allegri collected three wins, one draw and one defeat in the opening five Serie A games of 2023-24.

Juventus’ struggles to score in Serie A under Motta have prompted fans to compare Motta to Allegri on social media with funny images and jokes.

Juventus have clearly changed their tactical approach compared to last season, but they are still struggling to set up their star striker Dusan Vlahovic, who scored 18 goals in 38 games last term. The Serbia international hasn’t scored for a month under Motta and was subbed off during the break against Napoli yesterday.

Juventus dominated possession against the Partenopei (65% to 35%) but, like their opponents, managed just one shot on target. The Bianconeri’s next Serie A match is away at Genoa next Saturday.

  1. People are idiots.
Of course it’s gonna take time to make the transition from Allegris 5-4-1 catenaccio style to Mottas attacking ball possession based 4-2-3-1
