It’s already been reported that Roma players were surprised by the club’s announcement Wednesday morning, but Il Corriere dello Sport now adds that the Italian duo representing the rest of the team met club executives to understand their decision.

According to the report, Pellegrini and Mancini also asked why the club had called other players on Monday to know their opinions on De Rossi. Among the footballers consulted by directors on Monday were Paulo Dybala and Leandro Paredes, who insisted that the whole team backed their coach.

This is one more reason why Pellegrini and Mancini confronted club directors two days ago and tried to convince them to change their minds, but it was too late.

Roma have appointed ex-Torino coach Ivan Juric until the end of the season. The Giallorossi host Udinese at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday, September 22, when home fans are expected to protest against De Rossi’s sacking.
