Tests have showed that the Davide Frattesi thigh injury is not as serious as first thought, so he should be available for the Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid.

The former Sassuolo midfielder sustained a muscular problem in training before the 1-0 win over Juventus last weekend.

The more in-depth examinations showed a myotendinous strain to the rectus femoris muscle in his right thigh, but no actual lesions.

According to Sky Sport Italia, this means he will miss Saturday’s Serie A meeting with Roma, but should be ready for a spot on the bench when Inter take on Salernitana next Friday, February 16.

Above all, Frattesi can be counted on by coach Simone Inzaghi for the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 tie with Atletico Madrid on February 20.

Having options for squad rotation will become crucial towards the end of the month, especially as Inter also have a rescheduled Serie A fixture with Atalanta on February 28.

Frattesi has four goals in 27 competitive appearances this season.
