Alfred Gudmundsson has emerged as Juventus‘ primary candidate to replace Federico Chiesa in the summer if the Italy international doesn’t sign a contract extension.

Chiesa’s Juventus future is uncertain as talks over a new deal at the Allianz Stadium have yet to begin.

His contract in Turin runs out in 2025 and if the versatile striker refuses to sign a new deal, the Bianconeri will listen to offers for him in the summer.

According to Tuttosport, Juventus can’t afford to raise his €5m-a-year salary, while the player’s entourage feels their client deserves to be among the highest-paid footballers in the team and get at least €7m per season like Dusan Vlahovic.

Official talks will reportedly begin before next summer’s Euros, but according to Gazzetta, Juventus have already identified Chiesa’s potential replacement in Genoa‘s Gudmundsson.

Il Grifone rejected a €25m bid from Fiorentina in the January transfer window and set the asking price for the 26-year-old striker at €40m.
