Roma have officially signed Empoli and Italy Under-21 international midfielder Tommaso Baldanzi in a deal worth €10m plus bonuses. ‘I feel honoured.’
There are also €5m in bonuses and Empoli will be owed 15 per cent of any future transfer fee.
“I want to thank the Friedkin family for having believed so strongly in me and for doing everything possible to take me to Roma,” Baldanzi told the official club website.
“I feel honoured of the interest this club and coach had in my and hope to repay all their faith.
“In training with great champions, I will have so much to observe and learn. I can’t wait for Monday to breathe in the atmosphere of my new stadium.
“I will give my all to achieve the objectives we have in front of us.”
The player has chosen the Number 35 jersey and underwent his medical tests this morning.
Baldanzi will turn 21 next month and was part of the Italy squad that reached the Final of the Under-20 World Cup.
A product of the Empoli youth academy, he scored two goals in 14 Serie A appearances this season, but was hampered by a recurring ankle issue.
