Renato Sanches is growing ever close to an early exit from Roma, as his parent club Paris Saint-Germain have received a request for information on his current situation from Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas according to recent reports.

The former Benfica and Bayern Munich midfielder joined Roma on loan with a conditional obligation to buy in the summer transfer window, but has so far racked up just 227 minutes of competitive action at the half-way stage of the 2023-24 season.

Roma would have been obliged to sign Sanches permanently had be featured for 75% of Roma’s matches this season, but that feat is now impossible due to his lack of consistent minutes in the first half of the campaign.

Instead, Roma are leaning towards sending Sanches back to PSG six months before his loan spell is due to expire.

The Giallorossi are under incredibly strict financial restrictions, so terminating Sanches’ loan deal could save them around €1.7m in wages this season, which could be spent on bringing in reinforcements, likely on loan, in January.

Reports from French outlet l’Equipe indicate that PSG have received a request for information from Besiktas, who appointed Sanches’ former Portugal national team coach Fernando Santos on Sunday.

PSG and Besiktas are now reportedly discussing the possibility of a loan deal until the end of the season.
