During his interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, Italy and Napoli striker Giacomo Raspadori said Nicolò Fagioli and Sandro Tonali will ‘get over’ the betting scandal but notes that sometimes ‘speed of success can determine various reactions.’

Fagioli and Tonali have recently been banned for seven and 12 months, respectively, following their involvement in a betting scandal in Italy.

The Juventus and Newcastle midfielders admitted placing bets on football games through illegal platforms, and it emerged Tonali even gambled on his former clubs Milan and Brescia when he was playing for the Rossoneri and the Rondinelle, although he always bet on them to win.

Raspadori said he hasn’t spoken to his compatriots since the scandal exploded in October, but he is confident both will bounce back.

“They are two guys with human qualities and will get over it in the best way,” he said.

“Sometimes, the speed of success can determine various reactions, including the feeling of having no limits, and even the best ones lose their way.”

Both Fagioli and Tonali have sought help to treat their gambling addiction.

Raspadori also spoke about his career during the interview with Gazzetta, admitting that Roberto De Zerbi has been the most influential coach he’s had.
