Recent reports suggest that Milan and former striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic are edging ever closer to a reunion, with the Swede set to be handed a role in the Rossoneri set-up behind the scenes, but there are certain responsibilities with which he will reportedly not be burdened.

Both La Gazzetta dello Sport and Calciomercato.com have run stories on Ibrahimovic’s future at Milanello, both suggesting that the team are lacking an authoritative figure between the playing staff and the board of directors.

Some outlets have recently suggested that coach Stefano Pioli has been struggling without somebody in that sort of role since the departure of Paolo Maldini in June.

However, as a popular character both in the dressing room and among the club’s directors, Ibrahimovic’s appointment would likely satisfy most from the top to the bottom of the organisation.

La Gazzetta details that there would be firm boundaries surrounding Ibrahimovic’s rumoured role. He is expected to be the link between the players and the board, he is expected to show his face to the press when required, but he is not expected to have any involvement in the club’s recruitment.

Ibrahimovic reportedly does not want to be seen as just a showpiece either, he would like to make a genuine difference among the squad.

He will, however, still be permitted to continue conducting his own personal business affairs away from the club in his own time.
