Former Milan and Italy coach Arrigo Sacchi says ‘only Leo Messi’ impressed him as much as Jude Bellingham in his 20s: ‘He’s world-class.’

Bellingham vastly contributed to England’s 3-1 win over Italy on Tuesday, weeks after inspiring Real Madrid‘s Champions League victory against Napoli at the Stadio Maradona.

Former Italy and Milan coach Sacchi was impressed by Bellingham in his most recent appearance against the Azzurri at Wembley Stadium.

“He was dominant. Damn, he is so strong. He does everything,” the legendary Italian coach told La Gazzetta dello Sport Sport’s printed edition on Thursday (page 17).

“He always plays for the team. Only Messi had impressed me so much at his age. Of course, Bellingham is different from Leo, but if he remains this humble he can retrace his steps because Bellingham is world-class.”

Bellingham has scored 10 goals in 10 appearances with Real Madrid under Carlo Ancelotti this season.

He joined the Merengues for circa €100m last summer and his contract with the La Liga giants expires in June 2029.

England’s win over Italy has allowed the Three Lions to qualify for Euro 2024, while the Azzurri need four points in the last two games or a win against Ukraine.
