Stefano Pioli and Milan can breathe a sigh of relief after Olivier Giroud returned to squad training just days before the derby against Inter.

The 36-year-old Frenchman was forced to withdraw from the France squad during the recent international break after suffering an ankle injury in a Euro 2024 qualifier against Ireland.

Giroud is a vital part of Pioli’s Milan squad and has already started the season in fine form, scoring four goals and providing one assist in the first three matches of the season.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Giroud took part in the squad training session at Milanello this morning, showing good signs just days before the Derby della Madonnina against Inter. The French striker is now expected to start against the Nerazzurri on September 16.

Pierre Kalulu did not train with the squad and will undergo a round of medical tests to examine the muscle injury he suffered earlier this week.
