Multiple reports in Italy claim Roma President Dan Friedkin has returned to London to finalise Romelu Lukaku’s loan move to the capital: ‘Today is the day’ claims La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The Belgian forward is expected to join Roma on a one-year loan deal, several Italian sources claim.

Sky Sport Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport report Roma President and owner Dan Friedkin has arrived in London to finalise talks with the striker’s entourage.

Roma and Chelsea are believed to have already reached an agreement over a €5m deal for the striker’s temporary transfer to the Stadio Olimpico until June 2024. The Giallorossi won’t have an option or obligation to buy at the end of the season.

What’s missing to finalise the deal is an agreement between Roma and Lukaku.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the 30-year-old would earn €7.5m in the capital, while his current salary at Chelsea is €11.5m.

Gazzetta and Corriere dello Sport believe Lukaku will accept a pay cut to join Roma giving the green light today.
