Napoli centre back Kim Min-Jae has been named Player of the Month for October by the Italian Footballers’ Association.

The 25-year-old South Korean defender joined the Partenopei in the summer transfer window from Fenerbahce in a deal worth around €18m, signing a three-year contract with the club. Kim has immediately impressed under Luciano Spalletti, instantly proving his defensive abilities and ability to contribute to build-up play.

The AIC has named Kim the Player of the Month for October, as voted by the members of the Italian Footballers’ Association. The 25-year-old played every available minute under Spalletti last month, impressing in the wins over Roma, Sassuolo and Ajax. 

Napoli brought in Kim to replace their previous defensive stalwart Kalidou Koulibaly, who was sold to Chelsea for around €40m in the summer, and the South Korean quickly rose to the task, looking confident and calm plying his trade in Serie A. His three-year contract with the Partenopei contains a two-year extension clause, giving him the flexibility to decide his future.
