Napoli met with Fabian Ruiz’s entourage today to discuss a contract renewal but there was reportedly no progress in the talks.
The 26-year-old Spaniard’s current contract expires with the Partenopei at the end of next season, so the Campania side are predictably keen to try and tie him down to a new deal in order to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer. Fabrizio Romano reported today that Real Madrid are waiting for this to happen before making a move.
As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, today’s meeting between Napoli and Fabian Ruiz’s entourage did not lead to an agreement or even significant progress, with a renewal looking fairly unlikely at this stage.
The situation leaves Napoli in a tough spot as they haven’t received an adequate offer for the 26-year-old this summer, so they may be forced to see him leave on a free next summer.
Last season, the Spanish midfielder scored seven goals and provided four assists in 32 Serie A appearances.
overrated player, decent, but not real madrid level
