According to Il Corriere della Sera, a representative of Elliott has sounded out Paulo Dybala’s availability, raising doubts over the roles of Gerry Cardinale and Paolo Maldini.

The contract of the legendary defender expires at the end of the month and multiple reports in Italy reassure that the club legend will eventually commit his future to the Rossoneri.

Why Milan have to curb transfer spending this summer

However, Maldini is apparently not holding transfer talks as Il Corriere della Sera reports Elliott representatives have recently sounded out Paulo Dybala. The Argentinean is available as a free agent, but the Rossoneri are only open to signing him if he lowers his salary demands.

Days before the club’s takeover last month, Maldini said that he expected more guarantees of decision-making powers and a higher transfer budget. However, club owners don’t seem willing to meet his demands.

Milan transfer news: Maldini and Gazidis have different views on Botman deal?

An example is offered by the potential Sven Botman deal. Maldini believes that the Dutch defender is a priority for the club, while owners and CEO Ivan Gazidis prefer to focus their investments on attacking players like Dybala. In the meantime, new owner Cardinale remains out of the frame.

Elliott sold the club to RedBird Capital Partners last month, but they are still involved in the club as the closing won’t be until September.

According to reports in Italy, RedBird needed a loan from Elliott to complete the takeover and Gazzetta reported this week that Cardinale is currently in New York trying to raise fresh funds from investors.

  1. What an absolute circus… Instead of strengthening after winning the Scudetto, we’re in a more of a limbo than ever. Nobody seems to know what is going on with the new owners. If no decisions are made by the time September rolls around, then the summer will have been a waste. SMH.

  2. Agree with maldini we need sign dybala for free… botman sanchez and young man from brugge..its only 100 milions for 4 top players…

  3. I would be very surprised if we signed any of Botman, Sanchez and De Ketelaere. We already have ruled out getting involved in a bidding war.

More worryingly is that Lille are in financial difficulty. Wasn’t Elliot involved with too? Perhaps they don’t care who they sell to..
