Tammy Abraham

Tammy Abraham is having a fine season for Roma but Jose Mourinho’s side need to address their dependence on him.

The 24-year-old English striker is justifying the €40m fee paid by the Giallorossi last summer, consistently proving the difference maker in the Italian capital. He scored the decisive goal in the 1-0 win over Atalanta on Saturday, a vital game in the top four race this season.

As highlighted by La Repubblica, Abraham has scored 13 league goals this campaign, vastly more than any of his teammates. Behind him is Lorenzo Pellegrini with six, Henrikh Mkhitaryan with three and a handful of players on two.

From the match against Milan at the start of January to now, Roma have scored 15 goals, with seven of them being netted by the former Chelsea man.

Whilst this is a positive thing for Mourinho, it’s also a sign that there are few other goal sources in the Italian capital, meaning some reinforcements are needed in the upcoming summer transfer window.

  1. @Vero Rossonero – true but Milan has changed and I don’t think they will ever afford a striker like this given the days of Berlusconi is no longer at the helm of the club. Yes, Milan might well win the league this year, but will most probably disappear again for six-seven years at least. They have struggled to keep their star players in the past and I can see that trend continuing.

  2. It’s funny. If the others are scoring then the writer will again say Tammy not doing enough. Sometimes pundits & writers can be controversial on theory creating an issue where there is none.
