Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers insists Napoli didn’t ‘create too many chances and we had good possession’ in the 2-2 draw, although the statistics suggest otherwise.
The Foxes did take a 2-0 lead at the King Power Stadium in this opening Europa League group game, but only after the Partenopei wasted numerous opportunities.
Victor Osimhen clawed back a draw with a late brace for the final 2-2 result.

“Disappointed with the end result but some exciting and good moments – the two goals are outstanding and one disallowed that was tight,” Rodgers told BT Sport.
“Maybe we tired a bit, some players were getting minutes in their legs. There are things for us to improve on – keeping the ball better for longer periods, if we did that we wouldn’t tire so quickly.
“The effort and mentality was good, it is a shame we couldn’t close it out. I don’t think they created too many chances, we had good possession. You have to do all the unglorified stuff, the last goal we just couldn’t quite get there to stop the cross.”
The statistics show that Napoli had 58 per cent possession and 22 attempts on goal to Leicester’s seven.
Leicester also effectively played most of the match like an away team, defending and going on the counter-attack, yet still failed to make their 2-0 lead stick.
“The crime isn’t giving away the two goals, the crime is if you don’t learn from it – I’m sure that is something this young team will do. The support was amazing, the noise, how they tried to lift the team, they gave us everything,” added Rodgers.
“It’s a disappointing one, but a lot of positives.”
“To get the 90 is a big thing for me personally.”
Harvey Barnes claimed a goal and assist vs Napoli but it wasn’t enough to secure three points.

If Napoli could have found a way to concentrate for the entire 90 minutes, they would have man handled this wealthy assemblance of talent.
Grande Napoli, Grande!
He insists Napoli didn’t ‘create too many chances but the stats show that Napoli had 22 attempts on goal to Leicester’s seven. I am so lost……
Napoli should have won that. They had far more of the ball. If anything Leicester were lucky to get the draw
He must have been asleep. Napoli had far more chances and possession. Leicester scored on the counter attack. It was as if Napoli were the home team.
If that’s how they play at home then all the best to them when they play Napoli at the Stadio Maradona with their fans :’).
You only have to look at Brendan Rodgers nose to know he’s related to Pinocchio, it will soon cover his face if he keeps making untrue comments like to this.
