Ashley Young has officially completed a free move to Aston Villa from Inter signing a one-year deal with the Premier League side.

Young left Villa Park ten years ago to join Manchester United. He signed with Inter in January 2020 and won a Serie A title under Antonio Conte in 2020-21.

It was the first Serie A title for the Nerazzurri in 11 years.

Young’s contract with Inter expires on June 30 2021 and the 35-year-old has reached an agreement with his former club.

Aston Villa announced Young’s signing on their official website and on social media.

“Aston Villa is pleased to announce the signing of Ashley Young,” the club’s official statement reads.

“The 35-year-old has signed a one-year deal after helping Inter Milan win Serie A last season.

“In a stellar career which has seen him make 369 Premier League appearances, win multiple trophies and earn 39 caps for his country, Young returns to Villa Park.

“Head Coach Dean Smith said: “Ashley brings with him a wealth of experience of top-level football both at club and international level and he is joining having just won a league championship in Italy.

“He is a player who can play in a number of positions and, having spoken to him at length, I know he is determined to make a real impact with us this season.”
