UEFA has released a statement vowing to ‘strongly defend’ its position in the fight against the ‘so-called Super League’.

With an official statement, UEFA takes a position on the entry into the Court of Justice of the European Union after the Super League clubs have requested an intervention for possible violations of the anti-competition rules.

“UEFA takes note of the announcement by the Court of Justice of the EU, reference by a court of Madrid on the so-called European Super League, despite the withdrawal of nine of its founding clubs,” the statement said.

“UEFA has confidence in its position and will strongly defend it.”

Earlier last week, UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin slammed Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona and refused to rule out their exclusion from the Champions League.
