Joao Mario is reportedly close to joining Sporting CP on a permanent €8m deal from Inter.

The Portuguese midfielder joined the Nerazzurri for €40m in 2016. However, he never settled in at the Giuseppe Meazza and left the club on loan several times to join West Ham, Lokomotiv Mosca and Sporting CP, from where he had arrived in Milan.

According to Calciomercato.com, the 28-year-old will join the Portuguese club on a permanent €8m deal.

Sporting CP won the Portuguese title in 2020-21, and the player has informed his entourage he doesn’t want to listen to offers from any other club as he wants a permanent move to the José Alvalade.

If he joins Sporting CP for €8m, Inter will make a profit of €1m.

According to the report, Joao Mario is expected to sign a €25.m-a-year deal until 2024.
