Demiral had scored the opening goal during the 2-1 win over Roma at the Stadio Olimpico, but followed Roma star Nicolò Zaniolo off the pitch on a stretcher with a torn ACL.

The Turkish defender had recently pushed summer signing Matthijs de Ligt out of the starting line-up at the Allianz Stadium and was rumoured to be a transfer target for a host of clubs across Europe this winter.
