Joaquin Correa is set to sign a new contract with Lazio as it is alleged Milan were willing to pay over €40m for the Argentine forward.
According to Calciomercato.com and Sky Sport Italia, Correa will put pen to paper with Lazio until 2024 and earn €2m plus bonuses.
With that, he will become the Aquile’s fourth-highest paid player after Ciro Immobile, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Lucas Leiva.
However, CM speaks of an interesting backstory that took place during the summer.

As per the website, Milan tried ‘everything’ to sign the 25-year-old in June and were prepared to spend over €40m.
However, they would have been priced out by Claudio Lotito’s demands of €60m.
Correa joined Lazio from Sevilla a year ago and has gone on to score 10 goals in 51 appearances, winning a Coppa Italia last season.
