New Juventus signing Douglas Costa declares “I’m here to win everything, including the Champions League”.

The winger has joined the Bianconeri on loan from Bayern Munich, with the option to make the deal permanent for €40m next summer.

“I feel good, you train so hard here,” Costa told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“I’ve just started to get to the same pace as my teammates. I know I’m still a bit behind and I have to reach the level of the others, but I’m working to get in shape as soon as possible.

“Why Juventus? Because in three years they played two Champions League finals, they’re the team with the most desire and the most opportunities to win the Champions League.

“I want to enter into the history of this club. One year out from the World Cup, I couldn’t have chosen a better club.

“I’m here to win everything, including the Champions League.

“The Scudetto? Juve are like Bayern, this is a great team and everyone will give their all to win against us.

“In Italy they play a tactically perfect football and it’s difficult to unlock defences. It will take patience.

Milan and Inter have strengthened, but Juve have the right players to confirm ourselves.”

Gonzalo Higuain has said that Costa plays in a way which suits him, and the Brazilian expects a fruitful partnership.

“Higuain is a champion and a great champion. Wherever I go I quickly become the strikers’ best friend: it happened with Luiz Adriano in Ukraine and with [Robert] Lewandowski at Bayern Munich.

“You’ll see, he’ll get on well with me.

“I like to play with people like [Miralem] Pjanic. Thiago Alcantara was at Bayern, I studied him, I learned a lot from him.

“I’ve been impressed by the quality at Juve, I’ll add my creativity.”

There were rumours that the 26-year-old could move to Manchester City to reunite with Pep Guardiola…

“After so many years, I wanted to avoid people thinking I was playing just because he was on the bench,” Costa explained.

“I also wanted Juve for new experiences, to play and to get to know another kind of football.

“[Max] Allegri is a Coach who speaks a lot. He knows my potential and I feel his confidence. I have positive feelings, I think I can do a lot with this team and Coach.

“The Juventus of the past? I know Emerson, and I remember the legendary team of the 90s-2000s with [Zinedine] Zidane, [Alessandro] Del Piero, [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic, [Pavel] Nedved.”
