Full-back Lucas Digne says captain Francesco Totti is 'a legend', whilst expressing a desire to stay at Roma.

The Frenchman shared this season with the iconic number 10, though disagreements with Coach Luciano Spalletti and a reduced playing time may see the Pupone leaving the club in the summer.

“What a legend and what a captain!” said Digne, when asked about Totti by Goal.com. “I have learned lots from him and he is a really great man. To play with him is such a pleasure for me.”

Roma will be confronting Napoli later today in a match that could be worth second place in Serie A, as there are only five points between the two teams.

“We want to take second place away from Napoli. That’s our goal now for this season because Juventus are out of sight. We have Napoli at home, and that is a big advantage for us, especially since we’re going into that game on the back of a 13-match unbeaten run in the league.

“Italy is the perfect place to develop tactically and defensively, which is my main focus as a defender. But now I am also much better going forward. My coach wants me to go forward all the time and I enjoy that a lot.

“Everything in football is about working hard to achieve something, and always developing yourself. For example, my goal against Atalanta last week was my first one with my right foot as a senior player. And it is not a coincidence. Spalletti has said that he wants me to use my right foot more, and he and the coaching staff have worked with me on that, so it’s nice to see a result.”

Digne's future is still not entirely certain, but the player's preference is to stay put.

“I want to perform my best in every game, and at 22 of course I work hard every day to improve my football.

“I really enjoy and benefit from playing so many games and feeling the support and trust of my coach. Confidence is very important for a player, and having this role for a top club like Roma has been really good for me and my development. So I must admit that I really want to stay here.”
