Milan Coach Sinisa Mihajlovic insists he has a good relationship with club President Silvio Berlusconi.
There have been numerous reports that the patron is unhappy with the Rossoneri this season, and he was not present for Saturday’s 4-1 triumph over Sampdoria.
“I spoke to him yesterday, and he complimented us,” Mihajlovic informed reporters ahead of the Coppa Italia match with Crotone.
“He wasn’t able come because he was in Venice, he was playing a more important game, a political one which I’m sure he’ll win.
“I was sorry for the lads, who weren’t able to give him joy in person. He deserves that and many other satisfactions, because nobody has Milan in their heart more than him.
“We always talk, we’re not always on the same page but everyone has their own responsibilities. I Coach, I make my decisions, and I accept responsibility for them, good or bad.”
The Diavolo have, at least temporarily, moved within seven points of the top of the table, but champions Juventus are a point ahead, having put together a four-game winning run.
“They [Juventus] are a team who have won the last few titles, so it’s normal and right that they have more credit in the bank than other teams like Milan.
“We have to find consistency in our results and performances. We’re slowly getting consistency in our results.
“I think we’ll maintain an average of at least two points per game, and we’ll see what happens after that.
“We all want to play well, but you can’t always do that. The important thing is the attitude, that’s entirely down to us, and it must always be right.
“Then the matches you can lose or win. The fans also identify with a positive attitude from the team. If you go onto the pitch with the right attitude then it’s easy to win.
“We’ve seen the right attitude in many games, not just against Sampdoria and Lazio, but also in the derby [with Inter], the first half against Udinese and the second half against Genoa.
“I don’t just look at results. Sometimes I can be happier if we lose with a good performance, rather than the opposite.
“The result is what counts, but if you play well it’s easier to win games, so I look at performances. I always ask for the right attitude and to give their best.”
