Roma Coach Rudi Garcia says he is fully committed to the club but wants a team that can be competitive on all fronts next season.

It has been reported that both PSG and Barcelona are considering making an approach to the Frenchman, who has been hugely impressive in his debut season at Stadio Olimpico.

However, the 50-year-old today confirmed to Sportmediaset that his priority was to mould a Giallorossi squad able to win major honours.

He also believes that, however unlikely it may be, his side still have a chance of winning the Scudetto this term.

“I want to stay at Roma but I want a competitive team,” Garcia said. “I want a team capable of competing in the Champions League and at the same time challenging for the Scudetto.

“My desire is clear. I have told the club what I think. The rumours about PSG and other clubs don’t interest me.

“I’m not setting certain criteria, what I am saying is that next season we’ll be in the Champions League and we need to be ready.

“We will also be playing in a League which will be even more difficult than this year. Maybe we will get less points but win the Scudetto.

“More than anything though, we need to be in good shape to play in the Champions League.

“We won’t be expecting to win it because at the moment that wouldn’t be possible, we’re not built to do that yet.

“But I at least want us to top our group and get through to the next round.

“We still need to talk about the transfer market. This is a short week as we play Milan on Friday so we are concentrating on the League.

“But obviously it’s an advantage that we have qualified for the Champions League because we will have better conditions with which to operate in the market.

“I definitely still believe we can win the Scudetto. Everything is still open and possible.

“Obviously we need to win all our matches, starting on Friday.

“If we win we can wait and see what happens with Juve and Sassuolo. Hopefully Sassuolo will do what they need to do in order to try to stay up.”
