Sebastian Giovinco says he’ll keep working hard to prove his worth after scoring his first goal for Italy.

“The goal against Japan, the first for my country, was a great feeling,” he noted from Italy’s Confederations Cup campaign in Brazil.

“The goal against Japan, the first for my country, was a great feeling,” he noted from Italy’s Confederations Cup campaign in Brazil.
“It was a nice bit of revenge. Not in the face of the critics, but for me.
“It is since the start of my career that it has been said that I can’t play at the highest levels. I don’t agree with that, but doesn’t interest me that much.”
Giovinco returned to Turin last summer after two years away at Parma. He scored 11 goals in all competitions, but there are still doubts that he is not physical or consistent enough at the top level.
“I’ve done well, not really well, but I’m not worried,” he added. “At times you shoot and score, at others – like this season – you shoot three times and don’t score, but the important thing is to be there.”
There were occasions in 2012-13 when Giovinco was actually jeered by his own supporters at the Juventus Stadium.
“I would be disappointed if the relationship with the Juventus fans has been damaged, I’ll look to win them back by scoring more goals.”
Giovinco, whose goal in the 4-3 win ensured Italy a place in the semi-finals of the Confederations Cup, is now pushing for a starting shirt on Saturday in their final group game.
“I’m available for selection against Brazil,” he added. “And winning to avoid Spain in the semi-final is an extra incentive for us. They remain the best in the world.
“Saying that, Brazil are not that far away – especially with the Neymar we have seen in the Confederations Cup so far.
“I’ll keep my feet on the ground. I’ll just continue to give my all, but the Coach is the one who makes the final decision.”
Giovinco came on for Alberto Aquilani after just 30 minutes of the game against Alberto Zaccheroni’s Japanese outfit.
