The Spaniard, who spent the previous campaign at Chelsea, has been appointed after Walter Mazzarri left at the end of his contract to join Inter.

“I have arrived in Naples and I am tremendously motivated to begin this new phase of my professional career,” the former Inter tactician wrote on rafabenitez.com.

“There have been numerous messages and signs of support since the initial official announcement of my appointment and I am warmed by the affectionate welcome that I have received.

“I am indebted to all who are part of the big family that is Napoli Football Club.

“I would like to let you know about my total dedication and commitment to these colours. We have great challenges ahead and when we are all joined in support together we will achieve our aims.

“So in advance I thank you for all your support. Thank you to President Aurelio De Laurentiis, thanks to all the fans of SSC Napoli and thank you to the city of Naples.”

Napoli will be in the Champions League next season after they finished second in Serie A.
