Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri has discussed the club's possible transfer targets – Marek Hamsik, Kwadwo Asamoah and Riccardo Montolivo.

"I'm in daily contact with Vice-President Adriano Galliani, but I'll leave the transfer market up to him as he has shown over time that he is a master," Allegri told Sky Sport Italia.

"I've spoken about many players with the club. Galliani will sign the one player who will be of most use.

"We want a left-sided midfielder with an eye for goal, someone who can replace Andrea Pirlo in the squad."

Stories today suggest that Napoli's Hamsik is Allegri's preferred choice and the Coach says he would fit the bill.

"The objective is a left midfielder. Hamsik is somebody who can play in that role, but there are many more. The most difficult thing is finding a player worthy of Milan."

Udinese's Asamoah has been paired with the Rossoneri too, while Montolivo is available after he stated that he would not be renewing his contract at Fiorentina.

"Asamoah has only been playing at these high levels for two years, but he is very good. Montolivo is a great player."

Milan won the League this season in Allegri's first San Siro campaign, but he's already looking ahead to next term.

"The objective is to do well in the League, the Champions League and the Coppa Italia," he continued.

"We've improved an already strong defence with [Philippe] Mexes [of Roma] and [Marseille's Taye] Taiwo.

"We hope the new midfielder will allow us to close the gap on the big European clubs.

"We are fine in attack. Antonio Cassano will make a difference."
