Napoli have become the latest club to be associated with a move for Italy and Fiorentina ace Alberto Gilardino.

The latter's future in Florence is in doubt over fears that the club's ambitions don't match his own.

Juventus have been paired with the former Milan man for some time, but it seems as if the Azzurri are keen too.

According to whispers in the peninsula, Napoli could offer up to €18m at the end of the season for the attacker.

Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed earlier this week that he intended to sign four big players over the next six months.

A left-back will be targeted in January, while a central defender, a midfielder and a forward – perhaps Gila – were summer objectives.

The 1982-born centre-forward joined the Viola in 2008 after three season with Serie A giants Milan.

Meanwhile, the new centre-back at the San Paolo is likely to be Argentine 21-year-old Federico Fernandez.

The Estudiantes defender is currently in Italy to finalise terms for a four-year deal worth €800,000 a season. He'll cost €3m.
