Milan also figure quite strongly with Ibrahimovic, Thiago Silva, Alessandro Nesta, Andrea Pirlo and Ronaldinho in the running to be named in the FIFA XI.

Juventus have just one candidate in Gigi Buffon who by the time he recovers from back surgery will have spent half of 2010 on the sidelines.

In all, Serie A is the third best represented League in the shortlist behind the Premier League and La Liga.

Meanwhile, Italy only has three players as possible candidates for the FIFA XI.
