The Bayern Munich winger’s agent Ulysses Savini, has today admitted that he has spoken with the Partenopei, but the German champions will not entertain loan bids for the 23-year-old.
“I spoke with Napoli about Shaqiri,” Savini revealed in an interview with Radio CRC.
“However, Bayern Munich won’t accept a loan deal.
“Shaqiri hasn’t played much in the last two years, so it’s a possibility [moving to Napoli]. He’s less of a winger than [Lorenzo] Insigne, his characteristics are similar to [Dries] Mertens.
“Shaqiri could play for any Italian team, but I think Napoli are among the most suitable names.
“Any team with international players is an important club, so I don’t think Napoli’s slip-ups this season are pertinent to this discussion.
“I think that consistency is one of Napoli’s flaws, but they have good coaching staff and are training in the right way during the week.
“I’m offering Shaqiri to several Italian clubs, and I’ve spoken to Napoli and other teams.
“It’s difficult though, because I don’t think he can move on loan. When Insigne was injured and Mertens had some problems I contacted Napoli.
“They didn’t give me an answer either way, they just said he [Shaqiri] is an interesting player and he’s on their list of possible targets.
“If Napoli lose Callejon or any other winger Shaqiri would be ideal, because having him compete with players who are already in the team would not be appropriate.
“Also, if Shaqiri were to leave Bayern Munich it would be to play more.”
