Leonardo Spinazzola had opened the scoring in Austria with a lucky double ricochet, but Michael Liendl equalised after the break with a ferocious effort.
“We did expect it to be a tough match and we certainly could’ve done better, especially with the scoring opportunities that we created, but we knew they were aggressive and dangerous on the counter-attack,” the midfielder told Sky Sport Italia.
“When we are under attack, everyone has to work for the team and hold out under pressure. At times, that is what happened today, but at others we could’ve done better.
“Over the next few days, we’ll study the footage and see what we got wrong.”
