Simone Zaza wants to stay at Juventus next season, but is focused on Euro 2016 for now.

The striker joined the Bianconeri from Sassuolo last summer, but was mainly used as an impact substitute.

Having been given the same role for the Azzurri against Sweden, the forward is expected to start against Ireland, and he spoke in a Press conference today.

“I don’t mind, but I don’t think that’s my role,” Zaza explained.

Having been given the same role for the Azzurri against Sweden, the forward is expected to start against Ireland, and he spoke in a Press conference today.

“I don’t mind, but I don’t think that’s my role,” Zaza explained.

“I haven’t played much, but most of the time when I’ve come on I’ve played well. For the goal in Italy-Sweden, I did well but he [Eder, the goalscorer] controlled a really difficult ball.

“I’m happy to give my contribution, whether that’s for 90 minutes or five minutes. I train hard every day to find more space.

“I hope to play from the start [on Wednesday], but you have to earn these things, and we know the Coach [Antonio Conte] wants 100 per cent, even though we’ve already qualified.

“I hope to do more next year, but I’m aware this was my first year with Juventus. I’ll evaluate my future after the Euros, but my goal is to stay in Turin.

“I feel happy on a personal level right now, but not 100 per cent because I think I can give more. I’m enjoying these Euros, I’m concentrated, fired-up and I hope to do well.”

Alvaro Morata is one of the players ahead of Zaza in the Juventus pecking order, but the Italian hopes his Spanish teammate will stay.

“I hear from him every day, we’re good friends as everyone knows. I sent him a fun text after his two goals [against Turkey], I told him that he’d cut his hair like me and that’s why he scored a header!

“I’ll definitely see him after the Euros, because we’ll go on holiday together. I’ve heard rumours, but we don’t talk about the transfer market. We don’t train together anymore, we’re not physically together.”

Finally, the striker was asked about Italy’s Puma kits, as Switzerland had a number of torn shirts against France.

“I’ve seen the pictures, but ours have never torn,” Zaza shrugged.

“I guess we have different ones.”
