FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio assures “we have good feelings” about Italy’s play-off with Sweden.

The Azzurri face a two-legged tie to qualify for the 2018 World Cup, with the first leg to be played at the Friends Arena tomorrow.

“We have good feelings,” Tavecchio said at the ‘Sport, Movies & TV 2017 festival in Milan.

“We’re at a time of absolute participation from the Federation in all aspects with the lads who go onto the pitch.

“Of course there must always be a reverential apprehension for those who have played football for many years.

“They’ve had a great national team that gave so many players to Italy, from the times of Gre-No-Li [Gunnar Gren, Gunnar Nordahl and Nils Liedholm] to so many other champions, the last of whom was [Zlatan] Ibrahimovic.

“They don’t have as many stars now, but they have to be respected.

“Right now the ‘Dominus’ is [CT Giampiero] Ventura. We can’t say anything to him, we just offer moral support.”
