One week on from winning his 100th Italy cap, Giorgio Chiellini will break Roberto Bettega’s appearance record for Juventus if he plays against Spal.

The centre-back reached his century for the Azzurri against Portugal, only the seventh player to reach that milestone.

His next game for the Bianconeri will be his 483rd, which will put him fifth on the all-time list.

Chiellini is currently tied with Roberto Bettega, but will move clear of him if he plays against Spal at the weekend.

Ahead of him are Giuseppe Furino on 528, Gaetano Scirea with 552 and then two of the defender’s former teammates.

Gianluigi Buffon made 656 appearances and played more minutes than anyone, while Alessandro Del Piero has the most appearances of all time with 705.

Fittingly, Chiellini is the current Juve captain with Buffon and Del Piero as his immediate predecessors.
