According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan directors have decided against appointing Julen Lopetegui as their next coach, also following fans’ protests, so they are considering Roberto De Zerbi and have made contact with five other candidates.

Spanish coach Lopetegui won’t be the Milan coach in 2024-25, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report claims the Rossoneri have decided to drop the ex-Real Madrid boss primarily due to the fans’ protests, so they are now considering different targets to replace Stefano Pioli next season.

Milan drop Lopetegui and call five coaches

A second report from the pink paper claims the Rossoneri directors have already spoken to five candidates plus Lopetegui. They are Paulo Fonseca, Julian Nagelsmann (who has decided to remain with Germany beyond the summer, so he’s no longer available), Christophe Galtier, Marcelo Gallardo and Domenico Tedesco.

However, they are not the only candidates for the job.

According to the report, Milan are also considering Brighton coach Roberto De Zerbi, a product of their academy as a footballer, and their ex-midfielder Mark Van Bommel, a close friend of RedBird’s Advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic who won a Serie A title as a footballer at San Siro.

  1. Shows such weakness by the club. If that’s your preferred choice stand by it and explain it to the fans. Back it up.
Over 2 years and 20 games unbeaten with Spain versus the likes of Italy, Germany, France, England, Belgium, etc. Europa winner vs Inter in the final. Plays the same formation as current Milan, available now, etc etc.
Now we’re letting fans decide the new mngr…imagine if we went along with #PioliOut…we’d probably still be on league title 18 and without that CL semi final pedestal.
    Lacking spine and backbone.

  2. This is clueless management of the highest form I have seen listening to public protest on social media.
They don’t know there left hand from there right hand.
It reminds me of when Maldini was at the helm, he hired Giampaolo and Pioli. There was public protest same like this but he what was right and choose wisely, he understands and knows what the club, team needs as a manager. These guys don’t know what they are doing.
    Obviously he was right

  3. I don’t see clueless management, I see few clueless posters writing their opinions based on article written by very poor source.

  4. Either way, there are 4 games left in the season. Get the coaching candidacy wrapped up so there’s someone to take over when the season ends. New coach will need as much time as possible to get through to the players.

  5. Agree SmH. This is the same ownership group that sacked Maldini, clearly not a popular choice with the fans. And now they are reticent to move forward on a coach because of fan backlash? No way, don’t but it all.
