Barcelona are reported to be planning a move for Napoli defender Juan Camilo Zuniga in the January transfer window.

A report in Sport claims the Catalans have been tracking the 27-year-old Colombian international for some time as they seek to strengthen their defence over the winter, and Zuniga possesses the qualities Barca boss Tata Martino admires in a defender as he has the ability to play in both full-back positions and can also operate further forward.

However, several other top European clubs are believed to be hot on the trail of the player, including Juventus” data-scaytid=”23″>Juventus and Inter, although Zuniga himself, aware of Barca’s interest, has insisted on a clause in his new contract with Napoli that would allow him to leave for €15m if La Blaugrana wanted to sign him.

Barca are especially keen to sort out their right-back situation before the end of this season, particularly since Martin Montoya is yet to pen a new deal despite ongoing negotiations and Dani Alves is expected to receive some lucrative offers after next year’s World Cup, regardless of the fact he has a contract at the Camp Nou until 2015.
