Gianfranco Zola believes Parma’s Antonio Cassano has done more than enough to deserve a place in Italy’s World Cup squad.

The 47-year-old, who himself had a three year spell with the Gialloblu, also discussed the club’s other Azzurri hopefuls.

“Antonio is an extraordinary player,” Zola said to the Parma Channel. “Anyone who appreciates football would say that.

“If it were down to me I would always take a player of his type to the World Cup.

“Paletta and Parolo are doing very well too, it seems to me the Prandelli is considering them very seriously.

“They have a good chance and if Parma finish the season on the up their chances will only get bigger.”
