Gianfranco Zola is convinced that Napoli will win the Scudetto under the leadership of Coach Rafa Benitez.

The Spanish tactician has been criticised in some quarters this season for his rotation policy and rigid 4-2-3-1 formation.

Nevertheless, the Azzurri look set to qualify for the Champions League and Zola believes Benitez must be given time to realise his vision for the club.

“The future of Napoli promises much,” Zola said to La Repubblica. “They just need to give Benitez time.

“In England he was a very tough opponent, his teams were always amongst the most organised.

“It’s interesting to see how Benitez is working in Italy. It’s a pleasure for me to exchange opinions with him.

“We have very similar ideas about football.

“I’ve followed Napoli on television and recently even live. They are a team growing game by game.

“You can see Benitez’s expertise coming to fruition more and more with every match.

“Bad results can always happen when there are a lot of changes. He is beginning a new project and he needs time.

“It’s nonsense to say Benitez’s style of football isn’t good. Teams who win titles and cups all play with a 4-2-3-1.

“In order to be competitive, there is no more effective way than Rafa’s way.

“I am sure Benitez can win the Scudetto. He has always won a lot throughout his career and he has all the capabilities to do it with Napoli.”
