“After the equaliser we were a bit nervous,” Zenga explained to Sky.

“In the second half, however, we were in control and with a bit more determination we could have won.

“The result on the scoreboard always reflects the game. 1-1 was fair, it expresses what the teams did on the pitch. We’re struggling a bit away from home, and we have to reverse that trend.

“Today we went ahead at Chievo, a team which have caused problems for many others, so that’s ok.”

Eder got his 10th goal of the season, but Zenga was at pains to praise the efforts of the team.

“The squad plays for him, and allows him to play well. Of course, he has great quality, as does [Luis] Muriel.”
