“I wasn’t even warned, but I was dismissed and that’s it.”

Striker Roberto Inglese made his first Serie A start, scoring the equaliser, and Maran praised the 23-year-old.

“Inglese did well at the goal. Today the whole team played at a good level, we immediately came back after a bit of a slow start.

“In the most difficult period the lads found the right physical and mental strength, the performance was definitely good.

“There are times when you get more points, and times when you get less. That’s football, and we have to roll up our sleeves and work.

“Today we came out the match well, with good character.”
