“It was a game we had to play and I think the three points were fully deserved,” the 58-year-old Coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“I thank the lads for this great performance. It was a nice birthday present. I’m still young – I don’t have any grey hairs on my head!

“We are above all in good shape in terms of concentration and focus. This club and city are accustomed to fighting right to the end and we’ll need that determination again.

“We keep going on training retreats because we like being together and work well, so we know how important this is.

“We know that if we get the right performance and result against Chievo next week, we’re nearly there. Nothing is finished yet, but we do know that we’ve given our campaign a real boost.”
