Zenga is an Inter legend after spending most of his career in Nerazzurro and he was part of the mythical 1989 side which won the Scudetto.

He's often spoken of his desire to take charge of Inter after his two previous coaching spells in Serie A.

Zenga impressed at Catania, saving them from relegation, before an unhappy and brief stint with Sicilian rivals Palermo.

Meanwhile, Leonardo isn't giving much away after being asked to comment on the links with Internazionale.

"All I can say is Happy Christmas," he told the Italian media. "I know nothing, I know less than you do…"
