“I’m not thinking about the World Cup,” Zaza said to Sky Sport. “There are many other players who deserve to be called up more than I do.

“However, it’s a great satisfaction to know I am under consideration for the future. It will be a great experience for myself and my teammate Berardi.”

The player was then asked about his club side’s fight to stay in Serie A.

“In respect to the other teams around us, we try to play a little bit more football.

“We have a fantastic group but be have been unfortunate of late.”
