Davide Zappacosta warns Atalanta must not use the artificial playing surface used by Young Boys as ‘an alibi’ for tonight’s Champions League clash.

It kicks off at 20.00 GMT in Berne, you can follow all the build-up and action as it happens from this game and Chelsea-Juventus on the LIVEBLOG.

Champions League Liveblog: Chelsea-Juventus, YB-Atalanta

This game is played at the Wankdorf Stadium, which has a very advanced artificial turf, but it remains something La Dea are unaccustomed to.

“It’s going to be a different game from usual, but we trained on a synthetic pitch during the week and will adapt,” Zappacosta told Sky Sport Italia.

“We cannot use the playing surface as an alibi. The objective is to win tonight, otherwise we risk reaching the final game with nothing left to play for. We want the three points.”

Manchester United lost here 2-1 in the opening round of the Champions League group, but Young Boys have otherwise lost the other three matches.

Atalanta have five points thanks to a 1-0 win over YB, two stalemates and a 3-2 defeat at Old Trafford.

It has been a rebirth in Bergamo for Zappacosta, who had lost his way at Chelsea amid injuries and a lack of playing time, as he recently earned an Italy recall.

“I am very happy with the way things are going here at Atalanta. I want to do more and more, so will try everything to help my team.”
