Inter captain Javier Zanetti looks back on an amazing year and feels 2011 will be “a thrilling challenge for Leonardo and for us.”

The Nerazzurri won the Treble plus the Club World Cup and Italian Super Cup, but parted company with Rafa Benitez to bring in Leonardo on Christmas Eve.

“For all of us, the year that has come to a close will always be unforgettable,” he told Inter Channel.

“I am very happy and feel the Inter family deserved this moment. I had the privilege of lifting all five trophies as captain to represent our squad.

“Every trophy was special, but I underline the Champions League and Club World Cup, as Inter hadn't won them in a long time. By winning we entered the history books just like the Grande Inter of the 1960s.”

Leonardo will make his official debut on the Inter bench on January 6 against Napoli.

“There is a great deal of enthusiasm,” assured Zanetti. “I consider Leo to be very capable and above all very intelligent. We must remain united and all give him a helping hand.

“It is going to be a thrilling challenge for Leonardo and all of us to start 2011 in the best possible way.

“We are not sated by success and want to keep going.”
