The Argentine defender missed the first half of the campaign recovering from Achilles surgery.

But the veteran has claimed that he will hold out until May before confirming whether or not he will leave the game.

“The best thing to do is wait until the end of the season,” he told TycSports. “Only then will I analyse the situation.

“We will take a decision, and if I feel good, I might well carry on.”

Zanetti then commented on Argentina going into next summer’s World Cup.

“I have faith in this team and in Sabella. I think they’re a smart group.

“The national team has always been a part of my life, and obviously I would say yes should they come calling again.”
