Vice-President Javier Zanetti tells Inter to “fight to the end” and “we’ll see what the table says at the end of the season”.
The Nerazzurri are currently a point off the top of Serie A, having lost to Napoli at San Paolo on Monday night.
“The important thing for us is to fight to the end,” Zanetti told assembled media at Piazzale Angelo Moratti.
“If we continue to show the positive things we did at Napoli then we won’t lose many. We’ll see what the table says at the end of the season.

“I think so far we’ve shown that we can fight to the end, we showed that on Monday night when we faced a great team like Napoli in their own stadium.
“We almost managed to equalise with a man down. I hope it’s a starting point, the reaction we saw in Naples makes us aware of our strengths that can keep us going until the end.”
Zanetti also praised Coach Roberto Mancini, who is in his second spell on the Beneamata bench.
“He has great desire, he prepares for games right down to the last detail and the lads follow him.
“The club has the utmost confidence in him, and the lads can feel it. We’ve been given an important boost by the fans, and we hope to see Inter climbing higher and higher.”
Finally, the former full-back spoke about captain Mauro Icardi, who has been linked with a departure from San Siro.
“Mauro must follow his path,” Zanetti explained.
“He’s very young. I was the same when I first arrived and there were some difficult periods.
“He has to be himself and acknowledge his great responsibility, because to be Inter captain at his age is a big thing in light of the history of this club.
“Mauro will never be a problem, all strikers have periods where they don’t score. I understand that it’s hard for a striker, but he should feel comfortable because he has the confidence of his teammates, the club and the fans.
“He’s the captain of the team, and we hope he’ll score in the next match and then never stop. So many players have done that.”
