Javier Zanetti said he will “continue to be a part of Inter,” but not necessarily as a player after meeting Erick Thohir.

The President flew in from Indonesia and was in the stands for this afternoon’s 1-0 victory over Torino.

“I am very happy, because I think that I will continue to be a part of Inter,” Zanetti told journalists at a charity event.

“I never had any doubts about that, as there has always been absolute clarity with the President.

“The most important thing is that this marriage will continue.”

However, it is not certain Zanetti will remain as a player beyond the end of his current contract in June.

It is reported he’ll hang up his boots and become part of the club or coaching staff instead.

Zanetti will turn 41 in August and arrived at San Siro in 1995.

“Zanetti is a great player. I want him to focus on the season, and he agrees. There are only three months left, then after this season he can join the family,” said Thohir today.
