Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini admits ‘we didn’t examine certain aspects in depth’ after Guillermo Barros Schelotto was forced to leave.

The Argentine Coach officially left the Rosanero yesterday after UEFA failed to accept his paperwork as valid to coach in Italy.

The club then announced that they had appointed Giovanni Bosi to replace him and he will be the sixth tactician to sit on the Palermo bench this season.

“We’re having a particularly unfortunate season,” Zamparini told Giornale di Sicilia.

“Speaking of the failed registration of Schelotto, there were certain aspects that we didn’t examine in depth like we should have, but when we realised that there were problems everyone at the club took action to resolve them.

“For example, his lawyers assured us that he was in possession of an EU passport, but it wasn’t true and thanks to us Schelotto is obtaining Italian citizenship.

“As for the recognition of the Coach’s status, his sponsors probably thought that it works the same in Italy as it does in Spain, where the UEFA rules are implemented differently and even three years on the bench in South America are enough to coach.”
